The Côte de Nuits' vineyard

The Côte de Nuits constitutes a narrow band 21 km long and by place from 2 to 300 meters wide. It) height varies of 230/260 m in the South in 270/300 around Dijon, on often steep slopes (until 25 %).
She(It) recovers 2500 hectares, distributed on 16 municipalities. On some km succeeds one another the villages of Marsannay, Fixin, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Chambolle-Musigny, Vougeot, Vosnes-Romanée, Nuits-Saint-Georges, so many names became famous thanks to the quality of their prestigious vintage wines(vineyards). It is there that we find all the red Grand Crus(vintage wines) of Burgundy (with the exception of Corton) .15 million bottles are produced, essentially red (92 % of the production).
The zone of protected designation of origin " Burgundy High Night coast(ribs) " extends over about twenty municipalities situated at the same time as the Côte de Nuits, as the average height from 300 to 400 m.

Climate, vines and soils
The geologic nature of the Côte de Nuits explains its particular capacity to produce red wines. The vineyard is installed(settled) on limestones of the average Jurassic. Slopes are lively in the superior part(party), more moderated in the third subordinate of the hillside where the red lands torn away from trays get involved in calcareous masses of fallen rocks. Grounds are rocky.

Côte de Nuits is the soil of preference of the Pinot noir, the traditional red vine of the Burgundy. We find nevertheless, in rare places, the vine Chardonnay in white. Other vines: gamay and aligoté in a marginal way. The geographical situation of the night coast(rib) is northern.

Characters of wines
Bourgogne Hautes Côte de Nuits, red wines of the Hautes Côte de Nuits, possess a well asserted character and a solid structure. They are strong, firm, obust and ask for an ageing to bloom. White wines have a beautiful golden dress and a green, a nose
